Our Saw Dust Kiln Fired pottery are first burnished, then bisque fired, and finally fired in a bed of saw dust outdoors in a metal container. The saw dust, (primarily from cherry wood) is packed both inside and outside the pots and the kiln is lighted from the top. Some pots have ferns or maple leaves placed on them prior to the fire firing which leaves their images on the pot. Once the saw dust burns down, and the pot has cooled, the exterior of the pot is hand waxed to a soft sheen and the interior is coated with polyurethane for water resistance. This type of pottery is not dishwasher or microwave proof and should be dusted with a soft cloth. Please contact us for more information, availability, and cost.
